Paul Hobbs has produced award-winning, highly praised wines in California since he was the wine maker at Opus One and Simi Winery. In 1991 he started his Paul Hobbs Cellars in Healdsburg. In 1995 he released his first wines from Argentina, Alamos Ridge.
Unique to Alamos Ridge is its Malbec. Malbec is a red variety that originally came from Bordeaux. The 1998 vintage uses grapes from the higher end line, Catena. Malbec grape yields wines of character and concentration not unlike Cabernet Sauvignon.
