91 pts Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar, Mar/Apr 2011
Bright, deep red. Dark raspberry, spicy oak and mint aromas begin a bit reduced and mute but clear with air. Silky on entry, then velvety and broad in the midde, with complex, soil-driven flavors of raspberry, blackberry, smoke and spices. Brisk acidity still needs a year or two to harmonize with the wine, but the classically dry finish is suave, vibrant and long, with a broad dusting of tannins and a whiff of woodsmoke. This highly individual pinotage from stony, clay-rich soil shows an almost pinot-like suavity of texture.
