A blend of 50% Cabernet Sauvignon, 40% Shiraz and 10% Merlot, the outstanding 2009 Capstone (N.B. labelled “Cornerstone” in South Africa) has a fresh, well-defined bouquet with wild berries, dark cherry, mint and a touch of wild heather. The palate is very well balanced with a slight garrigue character emanating from the Shiraz on the entry. The Capstone has fine but sturdy tannins and is very focused and intense. However the finish is more composed and natural with a rustic edge. This is an engaging red blend that is full of character. Drink 2012-2020+
