April 2012
This was one of the top wines out of New Zealand this past year, recognized at the prestigious Air New Zealand Wine Show as the best in its category as well as the best red wine of the show. The nose is gorgeous, combining dark and red raspberry fruit, along with cherry and plum with a well integrated oak spice component and some earthy, savory notes to the wine's aromatics. Silky textured, the palate showcases deep, dense black cherry and darker plum fruit that is juicy and succulent, underpinned with some smoky, spicy notes and a finish that just rolls on and on. This has quite a few years in front of it, if you can wait that long. Impressive... |

90 pts Wine Advocate Issue #197 Oct 2011
Medium ruby-purple colored, the 2009 Pinot Noir has a moderate intensity of red cherry and raspberry aromas over tree bark, cinnamon stick and black pepper. Medium bodied with a good concentration of earthy berry flavors, it has crisp acid, grainy tannins and a long finish. Approachable now, it should develop nicely and drink to 2015+.

Medium red. Sappy raspberry aroma shows an almost candied quality, with flinty minerality introducing a more serious aspect. Suave and energetic in the mouth, with the candied red fruit flavors following through. Finishes smooth and persistent, with firm minerality giving the wine good spine. |
