92 pts Wine Advocate Issue #174 Dec 2007
The 2002 Magdalena Toso is composed of 95% Malbec and 5% Cabernet Sauvignon and was aged for 24 months in new French oak. It is a selection of the best 33 barrels of Malbec in the winery. Inky purple-colored, it offers up an attractive nose of pain grille, spice box, espresso, black raspberry, and black cherry. On the palate the wine is medium to full-bodied, firm, and complex. It has excellent depth, ripe flavors, and nicely integrated tannins. The wine will profit from 4-6 years of additional cellaring and will drink well through 2025. 90 pts Wine Spectator 5/15/06
Big, sculpted style, with a whack of toast covering ripe plum, raspberry and currant fruit. Nice, polished texture, with lots of vanilla and mocha on the finish. For fans of the style. Malbec with 5 percent Cabernet Sauvignon.
