Wines like this show that Argentina has started to come of age in our market. Working away from larger entities towards smaller producers this shows the artisan factor that now is coming forward, without corporate or huge commercial attachments. Sourced from old vine fruit, near 90 years on average, this is a blend of 60% Malbec and 40% Cabernet Sauvignon. The nose is exotic with spicy overtures of cinnamon and a hint of cocoa powder over assorted dark fruits. Medium fuller bodied this offers a gorgeous palate feel, supple with exceptional concentration backed with ripe, smooth tannins that leads to a lovely, lingering finish. This is a stellar wine for the money. How many more small producers are out there who are producing this quality of wines at this price? If this is an indication of what lies ahead it’s a great situation for value hunters.
