Tasting
Notes |
|
Black with deep purple hues, glass staining ruby. Hints of coffe on the nose with spicy oak, red and black berries. A seamless mouth filling blend of shiraz and cabernet sauvignon with very fine grained tannins. Coffee red berries, black berries, black currants fill the palate. This parcel of wine is wonderfully balanced with lingering flavours of coffe and mixed berry with a light veil of tannin. |

89 pts Robert Parker Jr.'s The Wine Advocate (JM) #186 Dec 2009 From one of Australia’s more obscure GIs, the 2008 Little Flinders is a blend of 60% Shiraz and 40% Cabernet Sauvignon aged in oak for 18 months. Purple in color, this full-bodied wine has an excellent nose of spice box, violets, black cherry, and blueberry. Dense and surprisingly rich for its modest price, it is not complicated but offers plenty of enjoyment. Drink this excellent value over the next 6 years.
89 pts Stephen Tanzer’s International Wine Cellar (JR) Bright ruby. A complex bouquet displays scents of raspberry, kirsch, blood orange and dried flowers. Juicy and incisive, offering lively red and dark berry flavors and good spicy cut. The blood orange note repeats on the finish, which is very precise and quite persistent.
87 pts Wine Enthusiast Very berry, with sour candy scents and cooked red fruit flavors floating over a base of seasoned leather. Juicy, medium finish. |
Winemaker Notes |
Cabernet Sauvignon was sourced from a single vineyard also within the Southern Flinders Appelation, this vineyard was selected due to its low croppnig rates( 2 ton an acre) Constant monitoring of the vineyard right through the growing season showed signs of some great qualities. berries were small but packed with flavour. Leading up to harvest close monitoring of baume avid and ph . havest was done under cool night skies. Once crushed and fermented it became obvious that this small parcel were kept seperate to allow fruit characters to evolve. |
