The wines from Domingo Molina are all about fruit purity as the oak regimen on the wines this producer makes are kept at a minimum. So the major structural component for this wines tannin is from the grape itself and not the oak influence. The very nature of Tannat as a varietal is to be tannic, hence the name association, Tannat and tannin.
.Here the tannins, although giving some grip to the finish, are riper and round which results in a wine with a sleeker texture and with excellent structure and surprising elegance.
The visuals for this wine are dark with a deep, light capturing purple-red, primary hue to its color. The nose is all about dark, dusky fruit, along the lines of mulberry, dark currant and figs with some earthy spice tones and chocolate. The palate is medium fuller bodied with dark fruit at its core and the tannin structure, from fruit not wood, suggests that this is one of the more classic wines for grilled meats with some fat content. Can anyone say Asado, the passion of Argentina and Uruguay for grilling meats?
