Very pale straw. Complex aromas of honeydew, fig, lemon curd and herbs. Dense but lively, with noteworthy concentration and extract to its flavors of melon, pear, lemon, dried fig and white pepper. Finishes very long, with a jolt of dusty minerality. I like this wine's energy and focus. 92+ pts Wine Advocate Issue #196 Aug 2011
A blend of 66% Sauvignon Blanc and 34% Semillon, about two-thirds of the 2010 Sauvignon Blanc Semillon was fermented and aged for 5 months in new French barriques. The nose is complex, more savory than fruity with dominant notes of yeast, toasted nuts and lightly grilled bread over ripe grapefruit, spiced pears and honeycomb. Light to medium bodied and very crisp in the mouth, it has a suggestion of creaminess to the texture and the finish is long, layered by citrus and savory flavors. It’s temptingly delicious now though I suspect it will get a whole lot better with 1-3 years in bottle, cellaring to 2015+.
