2006 Cono Sur 'Organic' Chardonnay drinking beautifully

The nose has a Burgundian slant to it, with an ever so slight suggestion of a nut component with some riper apple, pear, citrus and even a hint of soft peach notes, along with a subtle nuance of honey underneath, which reminds of something from the Macon region of southern Burgundy. The aromatics offer up richness with restraint. The palate is medium-fuller bodied with some honeyed pear, red apple fruit and a slightly broader, ever so subtle peach flavor that adds some nice mid palate breadth and richness. This shows good drive as well as length with good fruit intensity. For the money this has a lot of flavor and good complexity. This represents excellent value for a style that is more focused and precision driven, without leaning on any oak influence, buttery overtures or sweetness for nuance and character. This is more dry than many domestic Chardonnays at this price point. This has a lot of food diversity as well as a delicious drop on its own. A solid offering that over delivers in every way, this should be enjoyed over the next 12-18 months.
