Cono Sur
Cono Sur '20 Barrels' Pinot Noir 2007 nice wine for the money
Tasting Notes
4/1/09 Cono Sur has positioned itself as the finest Pinot Noir producer out of South America and one of the finest in the Southern Hemisphere as well. The 2007 vintage for at least this varietal was pretty special and this particular bottle shows great promise with several years of great drinking ahead of it. Possessing some meatiness to the nose there is an underlying earthy, stem component to go along with some toast and spice and a mélange of darker red fruit aromas. Sweetly fruited on entry with dark red cherry and red plum flavors a cranberry tautness comes in on the finish, countering the initial sweet wave. Young and evolving this should hold up nicely over the next 2-3 years with ease.
Food Accompaniments
Venison, duck, pork loin, mushroom dishes
