We found this wine quite interesting on several levels, first off, how often do you see Nebbiolo produced out of New World, and secondly, how often do you find Nebbiolo outside of its native Piemonte that actually does the varietal justice? This has the Italianesque, varietal characteristics of dried flowers, a suggestion of tar and mint along with a dusty, garrigue herbal note to the red cherry, red berry fruit aromatically. The palate is medium to medium fuller bodied with enough weight and richness to give the red fruit flavors definition while still having the requisite tannin bite on the finish that one expects from the varietal. For the money this will deliver more bang for the buck and equally match most wines of its type out of its native Piemonte. Interesting…
