1/5/10
A bit of different slant on this vintage compared to others we have tried from the producer concerning this wine, more New World and less Old World, Northern Rhone in style than previous vintages. The nose offers up an enticing and beautiful aromatic profile and lift - violets, pastel, spicy, with a suggestion of pepper and an ever so slight touch of game and beautiful dark berry fruits. Fuller bodied, supple textured with slightly grainy, powdery tannins, this has a wonderful, sensual mouth feel with delicious, sweet dark berry fruits that are rich in flavor and long on persistence. Even at 14.5% alcohol this shows exceptional balance and again shows that Boekenhoutskloof consistently makes one of the finer Syrah coming out of the Cape, if not the New World. (Gregg Phillips) |

Rich, dark and alluring, with lots of licorice snap, roasted mesquite, mulled plum, fig paste and spice notes that all mingle together through the lengthy finish, which picks up a nice olive hint. This has the stuffing in reserve to warrant cellaring. Drink now through 2013. 150 cases imported. |
