Blackbilly GSM 2009 Grenache, Shiraz & Mourvedre out of McLaren Vale
Tasting
Notes
4/28/11
This has an engaging fruit profile with sweetness and brightness without excessive weight. Think of red fruits combining with denser blue fruits cut with undertones of underbrush, pepper and spice. Juicy yet dry, with layers of flavor, his has lovely balance and is more pretty than powerful, with concentrated fruit maintaining a sense of restraint without any loss of flavor intensity. This is an excellent example of what McLaren Vale does best, working with Rhone varietals.

(a 50/36/14 blend) Glass-staining ruby. Intensely perfumed bouquet of dark berry preserves, potpourri and smoky Indian spices. Lively blackberry and boysenberry flavors show impressive clarity and are lifted by zesty spices, with silky tannins adding support. Packs a solid, fruit-driven punch and finishes with very good clarity and sweet persistence.
