This is a great illustration of a cooler climate red in a warm vintage that reached perfect ripeness. The nose combines floral overtures as well as white pepper spice and fruit tones of blackberry, plums and brighter, higher pitched cherry. The palate is medium weight with a sleek, yet supple feel, which showcases western Victoria fruit weight in contrast to something from South Australia, which has greater density. The tannins are fine-grained, almost powdery, and really work in perfect tandem with the spicy, bright fruit. Intense flavors of blackberry, plum and black cherry burst through the palate and mesh with spice and pepper notes that rolls on into a long, lingering finish. This should age quite nicely and should easily drink beautifully over the next 10 years with ease.
